Hi There!

I'm Dan Schlegel, an Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at SUNY Oswego

Explanation of Online Portion

Participation in this portion of the course will count for 1/2 of Assignment 6’s total points.

During the four classes when I am away at AMIA, the course will continue to run, but with a significant online portion. The general plan for the first three days is as follows:

  • A video will be posted on Blackboard using Panopto at or before our normal class meeting time. You should watch the video and take notes as usual. It will contain small exercises to be done “together” which you might pause the video to complete before seeing my answers.
  • For each class a small question set will be posted. A corresponding discussion forum will become visible on Blackboard at the same time. Create a new thread in the forum and post your solutions on the day of the normal class lecture. They are designed to only take you a few minutes. Only after you post your solution will you be able to see other student’s submissions.
  • Examine the solutions posted by other students. Post a reply on your own post with updated answers if, given what other students wrote, you think you may have made a mistake. Do this before the next (video or otherwise) lecture.

For the fourth day, I have posted reading for you to work through during the normal class time. I will post a small question set to to be completed as described above.
