I am Dan Schlegel, a third year PhD student in the Computer Science and Engineering department at the State University of New York at Buffalo. I received my M.A. in Human Computer Interaction from SUNY Oswego in August 2009 and my B.S. in Computer Science from SUNY Oswego in the Spring of 2008.
I have interests in many different areas including Artificial Intelligence, Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, Natural Language Processing, Interaction Design (both including graphical user interfaces and interfacing via other modalities) and Cognitive Science. I also dabble in the worlds of Electrical Engineering and Art.
Projects I have worked on since arriving in Buffalo have included a user interface for SNePS 3, an HCI computer vision interface for general computer interaction now known as AirTouch under the supervision of Dr. Corso, and KWalker - an innovative new query system developed with Abhijith Kashyap, Dr. Michalis Petropoulos and others.
My current research involves the creation of the new deduction and inference graphs which will be used in SNePS 3 under the supervision of my advisor, Dr. Stuart C. Shapiro.
I have many other current and past projects which I invite you to explore the Research section of this site to learn more about!
